Caves and a Castle

I've been intrigued by caves since about second grade when I learned what “spelunking” was. So, when I found out about the Schlossberghölen sand caves in Homberg, I wanted to visit as soon as possible. Since most indoor attractions are still closed, outside activities are pretty much all we have to do here. Thankfully, these caves (and the castle on top of them) did not disappoint.

It was pretty cold and windy when we went, but thankfully the caves were nice and warm (thank you, geothermal heat). The Google Maps directions took us to the castle (probably directly above the cave entrance. So, we wandered around by the hotel near the castle for a while. I had read to go down the stairs behind the hotel, but we went to the wrong stairs. Anyway,
